International Arbitration: The Mexican lawyer who prevailed against Donald Trump's company

MD. Francisco Alfaro G., a lawyer with an outstanding track record in complex litigation and international arbitration, led the defense of Mexican businessman Rodolfo Rosas Moya in an emblematic case that confronted a company linked to Donald Trump before an arbitration court in New York.

What happened?

The dispute arose after conflicts arising from the organization of the Miss Universe 2007 pageant in Mexico. Although Rosas Moya did not sign any contract with Trump or his companies, he was surprisingly sued before the arbitration center Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS), under case #142525013328, accusing him of non-existent contractual breaches.

A strong defense in the face of international pressure

The legal team, headed by Francisco Alfaro G., disarticulated the arguments of the plaintiff, demonstrating before the arbitration instance that there was no legal basis or contractual relationship that could link Rosas Moya with the alleged liability claimed.
Despite the context of media pressure and the presence of a legal team with political and economic power, the result was an award completely favorable to the Mexican businessman, establishing a relevant precedent in the defense of the rights of individuals before international corporations.

Legal relevance for Mexico and the world

This case not only tested the effectiveness of private international law, but also reaffirmed the value of having a strong technical defense capable of dealing with high-level disputes.

Experience in international arbitration

From his experience in international arbitration, corporate law and cross-border dispute resolution, Francisco Alfaro G. ratifies his commitment to the defense of legality, Mexican legal sovereignty and access to impartial justice, regardless of who is on the other side of the table.
